Friday May 8 In place of the usual virtual field trip, today I'm sharing a summary and resource page from this week's parent forum on anxiety with Dr. Jennifer Bashant. As we all face challenges during this time, Dr. Bashant's suggestions regarding anxiety are relevant and timely. Review the materials and reach out if there are questions or needs that we can support. https://www.smore.com/jqdec

Monday April 27 Virtual Field Trip In honor of our music department receiving a national recognition, my virtual field trips this week will have a music them. Thank you to our music teachers for their commitment to the arts at GCSD: Ms. Rochler, Mr. Clermont, Ms. Catucci, Ms. Cioffi, Mr. Meredith and Mr. Lammly. So, today's trip is to the Steinway factory to see the making of a piano. The making of a Steinway piano is a time-honored process involving the hands of many skilled craftspeople over the course of almost a full year. Steinway & Sons pianos are built in just two factories worldwide - one in Astoria, NY and one in Hamburg, Germany. Both factories have been building pianos for well over a century, and although Steinway has always been at the cutting edge in utilizing and perfecting the latest technology where it could make the piano better, they have found that certain things are simply better when done by skilled craftspeople than by a machine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAInt7hIZlU
