Ellis students have been participating in “Meet the Counselor” sessions this week.
As part of her job as School Counselor, Mrs. Payne visits every class at our Elementary School to introduce herself, explain her role at Ellis, and how she can help support students.
Each grade receives a different presentation, so things don’t get repetitive from year to year. Kindergarteners heard a story about respect and kindness, and learned about all the ways Mrs. Payne interacts with kids every day: in big classes, in small groups, and one in one.
Third graders were reminded of all the things they learned about the counselor over the years, and they did an introduction activity where they talked about what makes them unique, and what they want to learn from the counselor this year.
Parents and guardians, Mrs. Payne is here to enhance your Ellis student’s experience. If your child is feeling overwhelmed or stressed, is having a hard time making friends, or needs an extra source of support because of things going on inside or outside of school, let her know! She’s here to help.

WEBINAR TONIGHT at 6:30!
Does your child or teen... Struggle to meet deadlines and be on time? Constantly leave a trail of food every time he has a snack? Drop clothing on the floor as soon as she takes it off? Leave papers strewn everywhere with no systems for keeping track of them? When these organizational skills are not developed to an age-appropriate level, being successful in school becomes a real challenge. Research indicates that these executive skills are the most important skills to have in order to succeed in school. During this webinar, you will learn specific strategies to help your child get organized and stay organized in a way that works for him. You will leave with tools you can use at home with your child to help you teach and practice these organizational skills.

The purpose of a fire drill is to familiarize and re-enforce proper evacuation routes and practices.
Students did a tremendous job listening, following directions, and remaining calm.
Mr. Konas is teaching the basics of lab safety in his 8th grade science class this morning!

Heard some excitement coming from Mrs. McGuinness’ geometry class today, stopped in to see what all the commotion was about!
During the first few days of school, many teachers have students participate in team building activities to help students get to know each other, as well as the teachers.
These activities also help establish a positive classroom environment, and sets a foundation for collaboration throughout the year.
We can’t wait to see what else Mrs. McGuinness comes up with this year!
WELCOME BACK STUDENTS!
Families- send us your back to school photos so we can feature your student on Facebook & Instagram today!
