Health Screening Tool: As the first day of school approaches, we will be testing the online system for reporting daily health screening information. Parents/guardians will receive test emails as follow: - Elementary Grades K-5: Wednesday September 9 and Thursday September 10 - Middle/High School: - Grades 6-12 Spartan Group: Wednesday September 9 - Grades 6-12 STRONG Group: Thursday September 10 This will allow families to see what the daily health screening procedure entails. Please complete the test screening to practice the process. Starting Friday, September 11, you will need to submit this daily health screening for your child(ren) every morning by 7:30 am. How It Works You will receive an email each morning with a link to complete the brief health screening questionnaire for your child before sending them to school. If you have more than one child, there will be a separate link for each child and you will need to complete each. The daily health screening asks Yes/No questions about recent travel, COVID exposure, and temperature (i.e., does the student member have a temperature of 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit or greater). We will be using the secure platform EdVista (you may need to check your spam folder for a message with the subject "COVID-19 Daily Health Screening Form" and allow EdVista as an approved contact). If you do not receive the test emails mentioned above, contact your school office to confirm your email address. This email will only be sent to the person listed as the primary contact. If you are unable to complete the daily health screening form (e.g. internet issues), please notify the main office of your child’s school building as soon as possible so they can check your student’s temperature upon arrival: · Elementary School: 518-966-5070 ext. 301 · Middle School: 518-966-5070 ext. 451 · High School: 518-966-5070 ext. 401 This mandatory daily health screening is a new state requirement to help ensure the health and safety of our school community. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

With the approval of the Board of Education, On Wednesday, September 9, 2020 as part of the Capital Project, a contractor will be onsite applying a herbicide for broadleaf weed control. The chemical that will be used is Speedzone. As required, the contractor will be using yellow placard cards as a notification to stay off the fields. While the timeline for personal use to remain off the fields is 24 hours, regulations for school districts are 72 hours. Out of an abundance of caution all affected fields, track and tennis courts will be closed from Wednesday September 9, 2020 through Sunday September 13, 2020. Parents' Decisions for the 2020-2021 School Year - In order to create class lists, restructure room utilization, and disburse resources equitably, the District is collecting parents' formal decisions about the upcoming school year regarding in-person instruction (for gr. K-5), hybrid instruction (for gr. 6-12), or remote learning. Additionally, the District is collecting parents' decisions regarding transportation on the school bus. We encourage parents to complete this survey as soon as they feel prepared, but no later than August 10th. We understand that this is a difficult decision, but the sooner GCS has the information, the better we can plan for our students. We ask that if you have multiple children, please complete and submit the form for each child separately by selecting ""submit another response." Thank you. https://forms.gle/UuzxAXrTtQdtCygr5

On Saturday, June 27th, we celebrated the accomplishments of our graduating seniors. After working through various options and paying attention to the many needed details, we were proud to be able to offer an onsite commencement for the class of 2020. Unfortunately, early Saturday morning the set up for our graduation ceremony was vandalized. Chairs were rearranged and the use of the word “gay” was written as an insult. This hate speech and behavior is inappropriate and unlawful. Greene County Sheriff Deputies were onsite Saturday morning and are continuing to follow up on the incident. The District has been made aware that pictures from this incident are now circulating on social media. In reviewing concerns shared with us, there is a misconception that Mr. Ward, high school principal, and the District condoned this as a senior prank. This is not true. During his graduation speech, Mr. Ward made comments regarding all seniors being at the District on time prior to 8 am as a “reverse senior prank.” These comments were not in reference to the vandalism. This incident was not a senior prank, but the misconduct of a few individuals. We are grateful to our buildings and grounds staff, as well as others, who assisted in once again preparing the area for the beautiful ceremony that followed. The last thing we would want this incident to do is diminish the accomplishments of our seniors being celebrated on that day. We stand by our Mission statement and continue to focus on equality and inclusion for all as Greenville Central School strives to be a place where everyone learns, teaches and belongs.
