On Saturday, June 27th, we celebrated the accomplishments of our graduating seniors. After working through various options and paying attention to the many needed details, we were proud to be able to offer an onsite commencement for the class of 2020.
Unfortunately, early Saturday morning the set up for our graduation ceremony was vandalized. Chairs were rearranged and the use of the word “gay” was written as an insult. This hate speech and behavior is inappropriate and unlawful. Greene County Sheriff Deputies were onsite Saturday morning and are continuing to follow up on the incident.
The District has been made aware that pictures from this incident are now circulating on social media. In reviewing concerns shared with us, there is a misconception that Mr. Ward, high school principal, and the District condoned this as a senior prank. This is not true. During his graduation speech, Mr. Ward made comments regarding all seniors being at the District on time prior to 8 am as a “reverse senior prank.” These comments were not in reference to the vandalism. This incident was not a senior prank, but the misconduct of a few individuals.
We are grateful to our buildings and grounds staff, as well as others, who assisted in once again preparing the area for the beautiful ceremony that followed. The last thing we would want this incident to do is diminish the accomplishments of our seniors being celebrated on that day. We stand by our Mission statement and continue to focus on equality and inclusion for all as Greenville Central School strives to be a place where everyone learns, teaches and belongs.

It is with great honor that we share with you what both the Visual Arts & Music Departments K-12 at Greenville Central School District have been up to. Due to our unusual circumstance, the students could not take part in any spring music performances, plays, or visual art shows; and they thought it would be a fantastic idea to create a virtual space in order to give recognition to all of their hard work. Enjoy!

Friday May 29 Virtual Field Trip
On this sunny beautiful day I thought it was a great day to go check out the Statue of Liberty. We previously visited the statue a few weeks ago, but the National Park Service has released new high resolution images of every square inch of this historic landmark. Check out Lady Liberty!

Wednesday May 27 Virtual Field Trip Part 2
Today's second trip is a choral performance directed by Mr. Meredith. Well done musicians!
From Mr. Meredith:
"I'm proud to present the Greenville combined HS chorus performance of "Omnia Sol." Each year at our final concert we sing this piece as a send-off song for our graduating seniors. The seniors sing the opening verse, the underclassmen sing the second, and they combine for the refrain. Each student recorded their voice independently, and they have been united for this final performance. Thank you to all the students who participated; a special congratulations to all our senior chorus members."
