Capital Project Vote Results
On December 6, 2022, voters in Greenville Central School District overwhelmingly passed a capital project that was developed to address safety and program enhancements at the district’s elementary, middle, and high schools.
The $14.48 million project will be funded primarily through New York State Education Department Building Aid, with less than 30% of funding coming from the District’s Capital Reserve Fund. It will have no additional tax impact on residents.
“I’m excited to announce the passing of our capital project by a margin of 398 yes votes to 112 no votes, and the addition of a high school student member of the Board of Education by a margin of 413 yes votes to 93 no votes,” shared Superintendent Michael Bennett. “We’d like to thank the Greenville Central School District community for coming out to support the capital project that will significantly improve many of the teaching and learning spaces at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. We look forward to the day students will have the opportunity to learn, and our educators will have the opportunity to teach, in these new spaces.”
In the months leading up to the vote, Greenville School District held three district-wide community forums and answered questions virtually to provide all members of the community with ample opportunities to learn about the project, ask questions, share concerns, and provide feedback.
“This vote comes after a long history of capital project approvals in the district. We truly appreciate the trust our school community has in our team. Now that the voters have approved the project, the work is just beginning. We will continue to keep the community apprised of the status of this project on our school website.”
Renovations are expected to begin in May of 2024, pending voter approval, planning, and state education department approval.
