The Board of Education for the Greenville Central School District is pleased to announce that Mr. Michael Bennett has been selected to be the new superintendent, effective March 7, 2022. The Board will appoint Michael Bennett on January 3, 2022.
“Mike Bennett possesses outstanding experience as a teacher and administrator and we believe that he has all of the skills necessary to continue moving our school district forward,” said Greenville Board President, Tracy Young. “Mr. Bennett was chosen from among a highly-competitive pool of 26 individuals who expressed interest in the superintendent’s position. We conducted the search through a collaborative process and are very thankful for the time and commitment from all the stakeholder committees in helping to inform our selection of Mr. Bennett,” said Young.
“Mike impressed us as the type of individual who puts students first and has the ability to develop strong relationships with the students, school staff, and the community,” said Greenville Board Vice President, Jay Goodman.“ We anticipate him becoming an active member of the Greenville community,” said Goodman.
“I appreciate the confidence that the Greenville Board of Education has shown in me. I look forward to becoming a part of the Greenville school district, and working with the team to continue the District’s growth,” said Mr. Bennett.
Mr. Bennett is currently the Assistant Superintendent in the Schodack Central School District, a position he has held for the past eight years. He also served as the Middle School Principal in Schodack from 2008-2012. He was a special education teacher in East Greenbush from 1998-2006.
Mr. Bennett received his Bachelor of Arts degree in US History from SUNY Albany and his Master of Science Degree in Special Education from The College of St. Rose. Mr. Bennett resides in Castleton, New York.
