To our Greenville Community:

I am thrilled to share two significant updates regarding the district's administration. First, after dedicating 25 years of exemplary service to our school district, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to Business Official, Janet Maassmann, who will be retiring this summer. We express our gratitude for her invaluable expertise and unwavering commitment to the district throughout the years.

To fill her shoes, Todd Hilgendorff was appointed to the role of Assistant Superintendent for Business at the May 19th Board of Education meeting. Mr. Hilgendorff has served as the district’s Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment for six years after serving as the Principal at Greenville High School for four years. Before coming to Greenville, Mr. Hilgendorff was a Science teacher for eight years. He holds a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from Saint Rose, a Master's degree in Adolescent Education from Saint Rose, and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Cornell University. Mr. Hilgendorff will officially assume his new role on July 1, 2023.

Furthermore, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Matt Berkshire as the new Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. Mr. Berkshire has been an invaluable member of our district, serving as the K-12 Principal since 2021. Before joining the Greenville team, he held positions as an Instructional Supervisor and Building Principal for the  Schenectady City School District, as an Assistant Principal in Brooklyn, and spent over 11 years as a classroom teacher. His educational qualifications include a Master's in Educational Leadership from Brooklyn College, a Master's in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Hunter College, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from SUNY Fredonia. Additionally, Mr. Berkshire holds professional certificates in District Leadership, Building Leadership, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

Please join us in extending our congratulations to Janet Maassmann on her well-deserved retirement, as well as to Todd Hilgendorff and Matt Berkshire on their new roles. We have full confidence that both appointees will bring fresh perspectives to their respective positions and continue to cultivate an environment where everyone can learn, teach, and belong.

Sincerely,

Michael Bennett
